‘Dr. Laura’ Schlessinger Vows to Be Back After Quitting Radio Show – ABC News.

I dont get this really I don’t. Why is it White Americans through up their hands when confronted by their racism and just give the innocent look. I mean I have read the books on psychology about people who are perpetrators (yes I am using that word) do not see themselves as acting out.  They see themselves as the victims.

I remember thinking how do I explain racism to white people. Envision in your shoe you have a small pebble. Its sharp and it doesn’t hurt alot. Every once in a while you will step wrong and feel an incredible sharp pain and you hobble on.  Then it doesn’t hurt, but that pain is in your mind. You go about your day but in some small part of your mind you are worried about that pebble. Some people sit down and do their best to find it  and remove it. Some just sit down and wont get up. Some get angry with the pain (the pebble sticks them more than often). Some people find substances/coping mechanisms to numb it out (Drugs, Sugar, Sex). Some get numb or hopeless and go on no matter what.

This woman who called Dr Laura tried to remove that rock from her shoe and it flared up. Dr Laura you did more harm than good. You should look at that.

Struggling with this blog

by triniguy on June 18, 2010

I just read a great article from Problogger where the author highlighted some good points about blogging. I struggle with this blog as I want it to be personal but at the same time inform about Immigrant issues. I think I will create a new blog for the Immigrant stories and perspectives and use this blog as more of my personal musings.

Appreciating where I live

May 24, 2010

I live in Northern California and one of the resolutions I made this year is to see more of California other than the Bay Area in which I live. Recently I have visited Point Reyes and then Big Sur. Both fairly long trips and luckily I went with my family and other family and friends. [...]
